Whole chicken hot pot

A whole chicken simmered at the table in a light broth, with potatoes and rice cakes. The name just means "one whole chicken". Dongdaemun has a whole alley of it.

What it is

  • The pot arrives with chicken in broth, and you make your own dipping sauce on the table, usually with soy sauce, vinegar, mustard and chili paste.
  • Fresh kalguksu noodles go into the broth at the end.

How to eat it

  1. 1Mix your dipping sauce, cut the chicken with the scissors provided, then finish by cooking noodles in the broth.

History

  • Dongdaemun's alley is its home, and more than one restaurant claims to have started it.
